Personal

R. G. Parr, CPO, FAAOP is a native of New Orleans.

After serving three years in the Army, during the Viet Nam era,

he resumed his undergraduate work and obtained his certification

as a prosthetic/ orthotic technician in 1976.

He became board certified as a Prosthetic practitioner in 1978 and

an Orthotic practitioner in 1980. In 1990 Mr. Parr achieved the

title of Fellow of the American Academy of Orthotist and Prosthetist.

As owner and practitioner Mr. Parr provided the physically challenged with orthotic (orthopedic braces) and prosthetic (artificial limbs) care; communicated with physicians and other health care professionals to develop designs to met the individual needs of the patient; fabricated the device and ultimately fit the prosthetic or orthotic device on the patient. Mr. Parr has worked with all levels and ages of patients. He was the first in the area to utilize Computer aided Design and Manufacture (CAD/CAM) for both Orthotics and Prosthetics.
Another unique specialty is Anaplastology, which is a very specialized field of prosthetics. It entails fabrication of very cosmetic body part replacements.
Today’s health care system requires a very good understanding of third party payers, contracts with Federal and State agencies , HMO’s and private insurance.
Mr. Parr has vast experience and now serves as Senior Technical Consultant to Parr Prosthetics Labs.

Currently

President of National Consulting for Orthotics and Prosthetics Inc.
This corporation was formed in 1999 to provide expert knowledge to orthotic and prosthetic facilities, insurance companies, attorneys, health care professionals and to the general public. Since its inception Mr. Parr has consulted with orthotic and prosthetic facilities, performed many chart reviews, life cost planning, device evaluations and fraud determinations and helped new emerging O & P facilities by providing the tools necessary to ensure ethical patient care, third party payer claims development and facility accreditation support.

Medical/ Legal Consulting

Mr. Parr has testified for both defendants and plaintiffs around the country. He has participated in many depositions nationally. He has also, testified in State Civil Court and Federal Court as an expert witness. A recent case involved Federal Medicare Fraud case in Georgia for which Mr. Parr was the expert witness for the defense. Mr. Parr ,also, served as the expert for the first prosthetic liability case to go to a jury trial in the State of Louisiana. The defense won and the case was published in the Louisiana Law Review.
